What is a Blessing Box?

A Blessing Box is a “Little Free Pantry”, which provides non perishable food (like cereal, canned soup/pasta, granola bars) as well as hygiene items (including shampoo, soap, toothbrushes/toothpaste and toilet paper) to local residents when they need them. They are unlocked and operate according to the Little Free Pantry motto “Take what you need, Give what you can.”

The first Generous Hands Blessing Box is located at our offices (606 Spruce St.) and the second will be starting in May 2021 at Portage Terrace (11247 Portage Rd.). These are replenished several times a week by Generous Hands volunteers.

How do I sign up to help keep a blessing box stocked?

There are several ways. Call the office, (269) 370-7965 to learn more. You can email ghblessingbox@gmail.com or sign up at https://signup.com/go/icqLbLP. Once you sign up, volunteer guidelines will be sent to you.

Where do the items to stock the Blessing Box come from?

Generous Hands will provide a “stocking box” to each volunteer containing all the items needed to replenish the Blessing Box. The stocking box may be picked up at Generous Hands offices at 606 Spruce St before your scheduled volunteer day.

Can I donate food or hygiene items?
